Yacov Kopelovitz, Travelport’s country manager for Israel, issued a clarification at a seminar of travel agents: “There is a misunderstanding; our multi-GDS system and its content will be accessible, but it is dependent on the signing of commercial agreements.
Following the comments made by Travelport’s Country Manager for Israel, during a travel agents seminar, which were later quoted on the Educational and Travel website, claiming that Travelport had signed an accessibility agreement to content with Sabre, in order to locate the most up to date prices for the customer, resulted in an uproar.
The clarification issued on behalf of Yacov Kopelovitz: “We are talking of a misunderstanding of which I am the source; Travelport’s new system will be accessible to many sources, but travel agents will be able to benefit from it only if a commercial agreement is signed with the suppliers.”
According to Kopelovitz, Travelport’s Universal Desktop will enable accessibility to content which does not appear in other distribution systems such as those of the sites of low cost companies and others.
Sabre responded that they knew nothing about a content agreement signed with Travelport and did not see fit to use the content or technology from other companies.
