Minister of Tourism signs new agreements with Brazil

Minister of Transport, Stas Misezhnikov, signed two political agreements on behalf of the Israeli Government – a tourism agreement and an extradition agreement with the Brazilian Government. Misezhnikov escorted the President on a state visit to Brazil and Argentina.

 “The Ministry of Tourism sees great importance in strengthening ties with countries in South America, with the aim of encouraging tourism to Israel and in order to promote cooperation in different fields.”  These were the words of the Minister of Tourism on a recent working visit to Brazil and Argentina in which an extradition agreement was signed between the two countries.

This was the first working visit by an Israeli Minister of Tourism to South America in the last ten years. In signing the tourist agreement, both tourism ministers declared that the states know of the power of the tourism to help to improve the quality of life of its citizens and the importance of the industry in advancing peace and universal understanding.

In addition, the tourism agreement is intended to bring about an increase in tourist traffic between the two countries, while the expansion of joint activities in the wholesale market and the upgrading of links with new and existing airlines with the aim of removing existing obstructions and to increase seating capacity.

Among the items included in the agreement were the following: Cooperation between the tourism authorities from both countries, training of personnel, exchange of experts, distribution of tourism material, exchange of tourist information and more.

According to the minister, the Ministry of Tourism will in the coming years increase its activities to those countries providing the largest source of tourists to Israel, this alongside the expansion of activities to other countries, including those of South America.
