The Utravel chain published preliminary details of a survey of suppliers in recent months among 70 office managers. Benni Milrad, CEO Utravel: “We attach great importance to our relationship with suppliers, since there is interdependence between them and travel agents.
The Utravel chain conducted a survey among companies with the aim of examining the efficiency of active suppliers in the fields of aviation, car rental, FIT hotelkeeping, domestic tourism, the different GDS and LDS systems and others. The survey included 15 questions that required office managers to provide a professional opinion of the activities of the suppliers and their level of service, in some cases providing exact grades, such as for example in the level of service prrovided.
From the analysis of the preliminary results the five companies ranking highest in terms of service were: El Al (32.8%), Ofran Services (31%), Aviation Links (26%), Lufthansa (23%) and Continental Airlines (20%). Utravel intends to reveal the remaining data at the ”National Tourism Conference 2009” which it is planning to hold during in December, in the presence of Minister of Tourism Stas Misezhnikov and Professor Yisrael Oman.
According to the VP of Utravel, Moshe Shema, the data obtained from office managers indicates that the level of service of wholesalers in Israel needs to be improved, but in a country with a high number of wholesalers in comparison to the market, competition is important.
“It means we will provide tools to the agents within our network as well as to the suppliers themselves, explained Shema who already held meetings with suppliers who provided the lowest level of service in the list, with the intention of examining whether to continue contact with them. “Now we will know with whom we wish to embark into a deeper relationship and with those with whom we don’t wish to continue.”
