Amit Livni to end his term at El Al

Amit Livni, head of marketing for El Al has announced his intention to leave his position at the end of the year after 3 years with the company.  Livni: “I leave the position with much satisfaction and with great hope that the company will have great success under the new CEO.

El Al’s head of marketing, Amit Livni will leave the company during December, having lead the company’s largest marketing campaigns, among them the launch of the new Boeing 777 aircraft, the development of the El Al internet site as a sales channel and the increase in sales, the increase in the number of members of the Matmid frequent flyers club as well as invigorating the El Al brand name.

In April 2009 the Israeli Marketing Association selected Livni as the marketing person of the month for his steps in the marketing the development of the internet as a sales channel.

In a conversation with Educational Travel, Livni said that at this time he does not know where he is headed or who will replace him at El Al.  Livni denied that his differences with Eli Cohen, El Al’s commercial manager were the reason for his departure and said that while they didn’t always see eye to eye, they would part on good terms and he wished Cohen great success.

In a letter passed onto outgoing CEO, Haim Romani, Livni wrote among other things: “It was an honour for me to work during the last three years under your management and leadership, in which we managed to succeed in handling many events and crises, and fought against unprecedented competition leading and reviving El Al with development processes the like of which have not been encountered before.”
