Data from the Israel Airports Authority shows that during September there was a 1.25 percent decrease in passenger traffic compared to September 2008. Overall a total of 1.025 million passengers passed through Ben Gurion Airport during the month, this compared to 1.038 million in the corresponding period last year.
According to the data from the Israel Airports Authority, despite expectations of continued growth in passenger traffic recorded in July and August, September, during which fell Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, recorded a fall in international passenger traffic and aircraft movements. Since the start of the year, a 7 percent fall in international traffic was recorded.
Internal traffic however showed an increase, up by 1.3 percent on last September, with 36,000 passengers passing through Ben Gurion Airport. Since the start of the year internal traffic has increased by 12 percent.
Overall passenger traffic in September (international and internal) fell by 1.16 percent compared to September 2008 and by 1.7 percent in the number of aircraft movements. Since the start of the year a 6.4 percent fall was recorded in overall passenger traffic at Ben Gurion Airport.
