About 435,000 passengers are expected to pass through Ben Gurion Airport during the Succoth holiday. This is according to the estimates from the Israel Airports Authority. The authority expects that the peak congestion, with upwards of 50,000 passengers will be on the 1st, 4th 8th and 10th October.
About 435,000 passengers are expected to pass through Ben Gurion Airport during the Succoth holiday (in the days leading up and for the entirety of the week of Succoth) on about 2,800 passenger flights. Authorities at Ben Gurion expect the greatest congestion to occur on the Thursday and Sunday when upwards of 50,000 passengers a day are expected.
It should be pointed out that during the two holiday weekends significant congestion is expected at Ben Gurion Airport.
The Airports Authority reported that the most popular destinations for the nine days holiday are Turkey with 500 flights and about 70,000 passengers, the United States with 167 flights and about 38,000 passengers, Germany with 196 flights and 34,000 passengers, Italy with 239 flights and 32,000 passengers and England with 142 flights and 27,000 passengers.
According to Kobi Mor, director general of the Israel Airports Authority, the period of congestion at Ben Gurion Airport is expected to continue until after the holiday period.
