Caspi Aviation will start operating direct weekly flights from Moscow to Eilat, using Sun d’Or. The flights will depart every Saturday, starting on the 5th September from Moscow and from Eilat every Friday. On each flight to Eilat there are expected to be 211 tourists on aircraft type Boeing 757. According to the company, the flights are expected to continue until the end of the year and for the period of the launch the price will be 300 Euro per person including taxes.
Vice President of marketing for the company, Yehuda Douanis, indicated that in the past all flights that arrived with tourists from Moscow landed at the airport in Ovda; this will be the first time that a flight will land directly at the airport in the center of Eilat. “The direct flights will make it possible to increase the number of tourists from Russia visiting Eilat and all of the hotels will receive guests on Saturday,” added Douanis.
Avi Nachum, CEO of Caspi Aviation said that he estimates that the launch of the new route will significantly increase the number of Russian tourists visiting Israel, especially during the winter months.
According to Caspi Aviation, they set in motion their connections with wholesalers in Moscow with the aim of stimulating demand for flights and at the same time hotels in Eilat facilitated the check in of tourists to hotels during Saturday morning, something that has not happened in the past.
It should be noted that currently Aeroflot is the only airline operating flights from Moscow to Eilat, however their flights land at Ovda Airport. Arkia and Israir are registered as the main carriers on the route, but are not operating scheduled flights at this time.
