Based on data from the Israel Airports Authority, during the first three weeks of August 971,000 passengers passed through Ben Gurion Airport on international flights. Domestic tourism also showed a recovery with a 34 percent increase in the numbers of travelers.
In the first three weeks of August a total of 971,000 passengers passed through Ben Gurion Airport, an increase of 7 percent compared to the corresponding period last year, when 907,000 passed through the airport. Domestic tourism also showed a recovery with a significant increase of 34 percent over last year with a total of 25,000 passengers.
Despite this, from the start of the year there has been a fall of 9 percent in the number of passengers passing through Ben Gurion Airport, totallng 6.5 million; this compares to 7.1 million passengers in the same period in August 2008. Domestic tourism since the start of the year increased by 13 percent.
Since the start of the month there have been a total of 6,270 passenger flights at Ben Gurion Airport, an increase of 6 percent compared to the first three weeks of August 2008.
