El Al & Condor to sign cooperation agreement

The German airline Condor, owned by the British travel group Thomas Cook, is expected to sign an agreement of cooperation in the coming days with El Al.  The German company is represented in Israel by Open Sky. Itzik Pozmantir:  “I can confirm that we are close to signing an agreement.”

Condor Flugdienst, which used to be part of the Lufthansa group, operates flights to holiday destinations in Central America, the Far East, North Africa and Europe and is expected to sign an agreement of cooperation with El Al to fly passengers to its base in Frankfurt.

Condor has already signed cooperation agreements with Lufthansa, which operates two daily flights on the Tel Aviv-Frankfurt route and passengers are even ticketed by Lufthansa, however in the coming days it is expected that El Al will join the competition on the route.

The general manager of Open Sky, representing Condor in Israel, Itzik Pozmantir, revealed that the German company is right to cooperate, because the agreement with El Al is intended to broaden the alternatives offered to German passengers.

Condor has a fleet of 34 aircraft for medium and long range flights and is regarded as a low cost operator that departs from Frankfurt and from other cities throughout Germany.  Next week Open Sky are expected to hold a seminar to acquaint themselves with the travel agents in order to show off their activities.

In recent weeks El Al launched a cooperation agreement with the French company Corsairfly, part of the TUI group, in order to offer flights to Paris and from there to Montreal and to other destinations in Central America.
