After many years when the massive cruise ships were absent from Israeli ports, during September the cruise ship ‘Vision of the Seas’ will anchor in Israel during an 11 night cruise.  The representative for Royal Caribbean in Israel, Uri Schnabel: “2009 is a landmark year for the leading American cruise ship companies.”

The Vision of the Seas cruise ship, carrying about 2,500 passengers, will dock for one night in Haifa port and a second night in Ashdod. During the autumn period from September until November 2009, the ship will dock at the Israeli port 9 times.

Schnabel also reported that in October, Celebrity Cruises newest ship, the ‘Celebrity Equinox’,  recently launched from Southampton in England, will visit Israel during a series of 9 cruises each of 13 nights, under the name ‘Ancient Empires’, docking at the ports of Haifa and Ashdod.

 “2009 is a landmark year for the leading American cruise ship companies, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises, which will return from September and will moor in the ports at Ashdod and Haifa,” explained Schnabel, general manager of Sunorama Tourist Services.

According to Schnabel, the return of the cruise ships to Israel during 2009 will bring in about 40,000 tourists, who will take dozens of tours throughout the country, enjoying many different tourist services to the value of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
