Israir planning scheduled flights to Switzerland

Israir has announced that it intends to operate regular flights to Switzerland in light of the recommendations from the management of Israeli civil aviation authority to appoint an additional leading carrier between the two countries. Israir: “This is now in the planning stage and details and flight times will be published in due course.”

Israir is expected to receive the designation from the Ministry of Transport for the purpose of operating regular flights to Zurich and Geneva.  According to the company, in recent days the civil aviation authority transferred its recommendation to the Minister of Transport to nominate an additional leading carrier, in addition to El Al and Swiss.  This is as a result of the new aviation agreement which was signed recently between the two countries, allowing each side to operate 24 regular passenger flights, compared to the current 17.

Also, following the final receipt of approval from the German aviation authority, Israir will begin operating 3 regular weekly flights to Berlin and a regular weekly flight to Stuttgart, in addition to other destinations: Roma, Milan, Nice and Ljubljana to which it already operates regular flights.

It should be noted that Israir has been operating charter flights to Berlin and Stuttgart for about 5 years and following its authorization; these flights will now become scheduled flights and will be sold via the global distribution system.

Guy Rozen, chairman of the Israir group said that Israir’s destinations map for regular flights is expanding and providing high quality and cheaper alternative flights to these destinations.
