The low cost carrier Jet2.com has announced that it will continue to operate direct flights on the Manchester to Tel Aviv route. From March 2010 it will start operating two weekly flights. Jet2.com CEO: “The route to Tel Aviv proves the success of the Jewish community in the north of England.
The British low cost carrier that started operating weekly flights to Tel Aviv in May 2009 announced that because of increasing demand, they intend to double the number of flights to Israel between March and October 2010.
It is the intention of the airline to also market holiday packages to Tel Aviv, in order to strengthen the demand among the population of the north of England. “The increase in capacity to Israel is being carried out after listening to our customers,” explained CEO Philip Meeson. “We are the leading carrier on the route between Manchester and Tel Aviv, which is now a popular destination and we are sure there will be a large demand.”
Jet2.com operates a weekly flight from Terminal 1 at Ben Gurion Airport every Thursday and from March 2010 will also fly every Monday. Jet2.com replaced Thomsonfly owned by the TUI group, which stopped flying to Israel from Manchester.
Last month Easy Jet, the second largest airline in Europe, announced that it would be flying 6 flights a week to Israel from London Luton Airport.
