Sun d’Or has announced that it will begin operating a charter flight to the Portuguese capital. The first flight will depart from Israel on Friday 24th July, landing in Lisbon six hours later. CEO Karvat: “We are expecting pilgrims to come to Israel from Portugal.”
Sun d’Or is to start operating a weekly charter flight to Lisbon with the aim of encouraging incoming tourism to Israel. According to CEO Bezalel Karvat, this flight is not intended for Israelis, although those who travel will enjoy the initial launch price of $399. An upgrade to business class will cost an additional $150.
Sun d’Or’s flight to Lisbon will depart from Israel every Friday until the end of September, returning on Saturday. “We are talking about a relatively long flight and the price of tickets is expected to increase,” added Karvat. He claimed that at this time there is already enough demand from Portugal to justify the route.
Karvat indicated that the launch of the route was in line with the company’s strategy to expand its destinations. The company will compete on the Lisbon route with Brussels Airlines, which operates flights between Lisbon-Brussels-Tel Aviv.
