Easy Jet to fly to Israel this winter

Low cost carrier Easy Jet, the second largest carrier in Britain, announced its intention to start operating a direct service to Israel from this coming winter. Easy Jet will operate six flights a week from London Luton Airport to Tel Aviv.  The price of the flight will start at £72 one way.

Easy Jet announced that Israel will join the list of destinations to which it flies, starting from 2nd November 2009.   The company will compete on the route to Britain with British Airways, bmi, Jet2Go, El Al and charter companies.  The company announced that Tel Aviv was chosen because it is cosmopolitan and attractive and an ideal destination for tourists.

The company announced that the price of a one way ticket will start at £72 in each direction, with most tickets being sold on the internet.  Chief Executive, Andy Harrison, indicated that this is a significant breakthrough and that Easy Jet would be the first low-cost airline to operate between London and Israel.

In the last few months the availability of seats on the route to London has grown significantly, this against the sharp decline in demand.  Easy Jet will be the sole low cost carrier on the London to Tel Aviv route.

As well as launching the new service to Tel Aviv, Easy Jet also announced the launch of a direct flight to Agadir in Morocco. This follows on from the launch of flights to 23 new destinations in the last few months.
