Israel (Izzy) Borovich, former chairman of El Al and a member of the board of directors will soon be appointed chairman of Tal Aviation, which represents a number of foreign airlines. Tal Aviation was recently chosen as El Al’s representative in Athens.
The former chairman of El Al is expected to take the position as chairman of Tal Aviation, founded by Gideon Thaler. Tal Aviation represents a number of foreign airlines in Israel including American Airlines, Qantas and Cathay Pacific. Thaler is expected to announce the appointment at a special event at his home.
In his role, which will probably come into effect from the beginning of July, Borovich will take advantage of his contacts in the worldwide aviation industry with the aim of convincing foreign airlines throughout the world to sign representative agreements with Tal Aviation. It was Borovich who initiated the code share agreement between El Al and American Airlines last year.
Since leaving his role as chairman of El Al as a result of the conflict with his brother Dedi, he has served as a fully fledged member of the board of directors. Former CEO of Partner, Amikam Cohen replaced him as chairman of El Al.
Tal Aviation denied that he will be joining the company. Izzy Borovich made no comment at this time.
