Lufthansa increases its fuel surcharge

Lufthansa has announced an increase in the fuel surcharge on all flights as a result of the 50 percent increase in the cost of aviation fuel.  This will be the airline’s first increase since last July, after reducing prices twice during last autumn.

Based on the announcement from Lufthansa, the price on flights between Tel Aviv to Frankfurt and Tel Aviv to Munich will be increased by $3 in each direction, with the fuel surcharge totaling $32 for each leg of the flight.

The increase in the cost of an internal flight within Europe will be identical, adding an additional $32 on each step of the journey. This will result in a total fuel surcharge of $64 in each direction on a flight from Tel Aviv to a European destination via Frankfurt or Munich.

Lufthansa will be adding an additional $3 on each leg of a long distance flight.  As a result the fuel surcharge on a flight from Tel Aviv to North America will total $122 in each direction.

Additionally, passengers travelling from Tel Aviv via Frankfurt to destinations in Asia, southwest Africa and South America will have to pay $132 on each leg of the flight.
