President of US Airways to visit Israel

The CEO of US Airways will arrive in Israel on the 9th July and will be present at the party being held at the home of the US Ambassador to Israel.  Also present will be senior members of the airline as well as the Mayor of Philadelphia.

With the launch of the direct service between Philadelphia and Tel Aviv, Doug Parker, the CEO of US Airways will visit Israel as the guest of honor at a function to be held at the home of the US Ambassador in Herzliya.  The Mayor of Philadelphia is also expected in Israel for the launch of the new service.

The manager of US Airways in Israel, Esther Kastiel, said that the arrival of senior officials from the company was being carried out in light of great expectations for the new route to Israel.  Kastiel said “The new route is expected to make Philadelphia a significant hub for Israeli visitors to the United States as well as making the city of Philadelphia a destination in its own right”

Kastiel admitted that there had been many question marks from people in the industry, expressing their doubts about the profitability in operating this route.  “We have been progressing at a slow pace, but already have a few flights that are fully booked.”

US Airways, the 5th largest carrier in the United States, will start operating its direct service to Tel Aviv this July; its first destination in the Middle East.  The flight to Tel Aviv departs from Philadelphia at 21:15, arriving at Ben Gurion Airport at 15:15 the next day.  The flight from Tel Aviv departs Ben Gurion Airport at 23:50 arriving back in Philadelphia at 05:10 the next morning.
