Sun d’Or, the subsidiary airline of El Al, has leased an additional aircraft, its fourth Boeing 757, from El Al. The new aircraft, which has seating capacity of 215, will be painted with the combined logos of Sun d’Or and El Al.
Sun d’Or received the new aircraft, which has already taken off on its maiden flight on the Tel Aviv-Paris-Eilat route. In the future it will serve a combination of different Sun d’Or routes. According to the Sun d’Or CEO Bezalel Karvat, with the receipt of the latest Boeing 757 from El Al, Sun d’Or has become the second largest international carrier in Israel, with a fleet of 4 aircraft.
Karvat indicated that the step allowed Sun d’Or to increase the supply of seats to holiday destinations, with the arrival of the summer season. Sun d’Or was recently nominated as the leading carrier to 6 destinations, among them Zagreb, Bratislava, Sochi, Rostov and from September to Dusseldorf and Frankfurt.
However their scheduled service to Antalya is yet to start operating because of the sharp decline in traffic from Israel. Karvat added that the new aircraft will allow Sun d’Or to meet the demand for flights to summer destinations.
In recent months the management of the airline announced the leasing of a third Boeing 757, as part of its strategy to increase charter flight activity to France, Germany, Italy, England, Portugal, Spain and to countries bordering the Mediterranean.
