Chairman and CEO of Continental Airlines, Larry Kellner, will be the guest of honor at a formal party hosted by Continental Airlines at the home of the United States ambassador to Israel on 16th July.  Educational learnt that Kellner will be accompanied by a delegation of senior managers from the company’s headquarters in Houston.  Avi Friedman, general manager of Continental Airlines in Israel confirmed these details, but refused to give any other information regarding the company’s plans once they arrive in Israel.

Kellner, President of the airline since 2001, made his first official visit to the company’s headquarters in Israel in 2006; accompanied by the vice president for Europe and Africa. At that event, launching Continental’s route to Israel, there were 2,000 guests.  Representatives of the company have refused to commit on the number of guests to be invited to this year’s event.

Continental Airlines operates 2 daily flights on the New York to Tel Aviv route. Based on data from the Israel Airports Authority, in the last few months the company has recorded an increase in passenger traffic. The manager of Continental in Israel has in the past expressed an interest in adding a third daily flight to the city of Houston, but declared that while there is a desire to operate the third flight, this is dependent on the availability of suitable aircraft. Friedman added that there will be no increase in capacity as long as the global crisis continues.
