With the decision of the Starwood hotel chain to remove the Sheraton name from four of their hotels in Israel.  The hotels in Tel Aviv, Tiberias, Eilat and Jerusalem will join the six hotels that were part of the Accur chain, and will be management by the Azorim Hotels chain.  The hotels will now be known by the name Moriah Plaza.  A spokesperson for Sheraton Israel commented that the hotels in the chain can now be found nationwide.

Starwood Hotels have announced that with effect from the end of June, the four hotels in question will be removed from both the Starwood global online reservations system and from the company’s benefits program known as the Starwood Preferred Guest scheme.  Starwood announced that they will actively continue to search for opportunities for growth in Israel with the aim of broadening their operations in the country.

Sheraton Israel announced that the four hotels in Israel will join six other hotels, formerly part of the Accur chain under the management of the Azorim Hotel chain.  The hotels in Tel Aviv, Tiberias and Eilat, which were known as the Sheraton Moriah will from the 1st July, be known as Moriah Plaza.  The Sheraton Plaza Jerusalem will be known as Plaza Jerusalem.

The hotels not controlled by businessman Shaya Boymelgreen, the Sheraton Tel Aviv and the Sheraton City Tower will for now remain under the management of the Starwood Hotels.   A spokesperson for Sheraton Israel said that the Moriah hotels, now managed by the Azorim Hotel chain, will have 10 hotels nationwide.

The spokesperson added “Moriah Hotels are located in the main cities and in attractive tourist locations, such as Eilat, Jerusalem, Tiberias, Tel Aviv, Bat Yam and the Dead Sea.  Moriah are offering different types of hotel to meet the needs of every guest, whether they are local tourists or visitors to Israel.”
