Arkia proposes on board advertising

Arkia announced that it proposes to designate an area inside their aircraft as well as on the baggage conveyor belts for advertising.  It is anticipated that this move will generate about 3 million shekels a year.  Arkia: “Part of the income is intended to fund free benefits to Arkia customers.”

Arkia Airlines have proposed to introduce advertising on their international and internal flights to Eilat and Haifa.  The company said that the decision was taken in light of the success of the cooperation with the reality television program “Race to a Million” which they claim has resulted in upwards of 100,000 passengers during the month long promotion.

Until now Arkia passengers have been exposed to advertisements in the magazine “Skyline” which is distributed in the seat pockets of Arkia airplanes.  From now it is believed that Arkia will advertise within the aircraft itself as well as on the baggage conveyor belts.

They also intend to increase the number of benefits to passengers on their flights such as providing newspapers, magazines, ice creams, gifts for children such as coloring books and inflatable airplanes.

According to Dudu Mahlev, assistant director general of Arkia International, Arkia agreed to the request of advertisers to allow advertising on their aircraft.
