Noaz Bar Nir appointed Director General of the Ministry of Tourism

The government has confirmed the appointment of Noaz Bar Nir as the new Director General of the Ministry of Tourism. Bar Nir's appointment officially comes into effect from the 1st June; following the completion of the handover period with outgoing former Director General Shaul Zemach.  Zemach has been appointed as Director General of the Ministry of Infrastructure.

Bar Nir previously served as coordinator for the health department at the Treasury and was Deputy Director General and Chief Financial Officer for the Clalit Healthcare Services.  He holds a Master's degree in business administration, specializing in finance, information systems and accountancy as well as a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

According to Minister of Tourism Stas Misezhnikov, the tourism office is a significant generator of growth for the economy and is therefore one of the most important economic offices in Israel. Misezhnikov, who has known Bar Nir for a number of years stated that Bar Nir, with his experience was the ideal candidate to hold the position.

In the coming days the Minister of Tourism is expected to release details of the perennial tourism program, which will be discussed by the government in next few weeks.
