El Al to fly 6 flights a week to Luton Airport

El Al has announced that they are to start flying 6 flights a week to London Luton Airport.  El Al has taken the decision to increase flights to the UK capital for the summer season, in light of the competition with British Airways and bmi.

From May 3rd El Al will start flying to London Luton Airport.  The morning departure will complement the two daily flights to Heathrow Airport and will replace the weekly flight to Stansted.   According to El Al, the flight will be operated by a Boeing 767-200 and has been introduced to satisfy the demands of the business traveler.

Uri Danor, EL AL’s CEO of UK, Ireland and Northern Europe reported that the new flights would suit travelers living in north London, with good rail connection running from the centre of London to Luton Airport Parkway station.  He also added “The timings are good as our departures and arrivals will be at times when the airport is probably at its quietest enabling swift boarding and disembarkation.  “We will be using Boeing 767 aircraft offering both Business and Economy cabins with full meals and drinks services.”

The flight from Tel Aviv will depart from Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport at 07:30, Sunday through Thursday, arriving at Luton Airport at 10:50.  While the return flight from London will depart from Luton at 12:15 arriving in Tel Aviv at 19:05 local time.   On Friday the flight will depart from Tel Aviv at 04:55 arriving at Luton at 08:15 and the return flight to Tel Aviv departs Luton at 09:45 reaching Tel Aviv at 16:35.

El Al’s customers will also be provided with a special fast track service for checking in and security checks, while club members will also be able to take advantage of the new business lounge at Luton Airport.

Luton Airport located about 55 kilometers north of London is the capital’s fourth airport after Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted.  It is a major hub airport for a number of low cost carriers to many European destinations as well as being used by for a number of charter flights.

The additional flights to Luton will increase El Al’s scheduled flights between Tel Aviv and London to 19 a week.  British Airways will operate 15 flights to the capital and bmi with a second daily flight will have 14 weekly flights.
