The Vatican has chosen El Al as the airline to fly Pope Benedict XVI and his delegation back to Rome at the end of his historic visit to the Holy Land which takes place in May. The Pope will fly on a Boeing 777, especially decorated with the papal emblem.
The special El Al flight from Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport will depart for Rome on the 15th May at the conclusion of the Pope’s visit to Israel, Jordan and the Palestinian Territories. The flight containing 30 members of the clergy and 70 journalists will be manned by a multi-faith crew.
Haim Romano, CEO of El Al said that the company was proud and honored to be chosen to transport the Pope and his delegation at the end of his historic visit to Israel.
El Al reported that in cooperation with its subsidiary Sun d’Or and the Ministry of Tourism, they are working to bring pilgrimage tourism to Israel from all over the world and especially from South America, following on from the Pope’s visit.
