Sun d’Or has filed an application with the Ministry of Transport for approval of a scheduled flight to Dusseldorf. This will add to the increasing number of flights from Israel to Germany this summer. El Al in the past flew to Dusseldorf, one of the economic powerhouses in Germany.
Sun d’Or looks set to join El Al, Lufthansa and Hapagfly (part of the TUI group) as the main airlines flying
scheduled routes between Israel and Germany this summer. While the Minister of Transport has yet to authorize the request, Sun d’Or believes that it is only a matter of time until this process has been completed.
In a conversation with the Educational website, the President of Sun d’Or confirmed the report and explained that Dusseldorf is a leading tourist and business hub. The airline is planning to operate a weekly flight.
Dusseldorf, which sits on the River Rhine, is the economic center of Germany. It is well known for its many events and trade fairs and is also a leading center of the advertising and fashion industries. In recent years it has also become a leading telecommunications center. There are also about 170 national and international financial institutions in the city and it contains one of Germany’s biggest German stock exchanges.
