Present at the meeting, held at the Aerolineas Argentinas headquarters in Buenos Aires, were Vice President of El Al, Itshak Cohen, director of Aerolineas Argentinas Walter Wasercier and managers of the State Company.

The initiative is based on the start of flight operations of El Al to the South American region in May. This will allow progress on agreements with Aerolineas Argentinas and the establishment of code-shares via Sao Paolo and Europe to Tel Aviv and the Middle East.

During the meeting the possibility of a freight transport agreement was also explored.

Pursuing these objectives, in the coming days will be teams from both companies, linked to commercial and cargo sections and will meet with the aim of developing formal agreements to be signed by the Presidents of both companies, in order to provide them with operational capacity in the medium term.

In May 2009, El Al will for the first time operate 3 weekly flights to Sao Paolo in Brazil.  Flight time will be 14.5 hours and El Al will operate Boeing 777 aircraft on the route.
