El Al prepare for first direct flights to Brazil

During the meeting, it was announced that El Al are planning to offer tourists from Latin America a wide range of packages, including Pilgrimages that follow in the footsteps  of Jesus, trips to churches in Jerusalem, Nazareth and Bethlehem, baptisms in the River Jordan and visits to Christian sites in the Galilee.

El Al are also intending to propose a variety of inclusive tours for pilgrims not only to Israel but also to tourist sites in neighbouring countries, such as the Pyramids in Egypt and Petra in Jordan.  "With regional flights from Israel tourists will also be able to include visits to countries such as Turkey, Greece and even pilgrimages to the Vatican in Rome."

The launch of the first direct flight, between Latin America and Israel is a historic event for El Al and a way of establishing direct links between Latin America and the Holy Land and on behalf of the tens of millions of pilgrims who until today were unable to visit Israel.

"We are also building bridges between the hundreds of thousands of Jews who live in Latin America and family members and their treasured culture in Israel and making possible direct contact between them and sites in the Middle East and in the Mediterranean Basin."
