Jewish Agency swaps El Al for Arkia
 
Arkia has announced that it has signed an agreement with the Jewish Agency to transport new immigrants from all over the world to Israel. Arkia will replace El Al, following the refusal of the Agency to accept the 5 percent tariff demanded by El Al.

El Al profits slump by 60%
 
El Al reported a 60 percent fall in net profit for the 3rd quarter of the year. Profits totaled $12.3 million, this compared to $31 million in the corresponding period last year. Revenues in the quarter totaled $496 million, a reduction of 18 percent on the same period last year. Haim Romano:”Profit was achieved despite the fall in revenue from premium class passengers and the collapse in the global cargo market.

Issta profits rise in 3rd quarter
 
The Issta group reported 3rd quarter profits of 12 million shekels, compared to 8 million shekels in the corresponding period last year. The profit since the start of the year totaled 15.5 million shekels, this compared to 14.3 million shekels last year.

Dan & Isrotel see profits surge in the 3rd Quarter
 
Isrotel’s profits are mostly thanks to the reopening of the Isrotel at the Dead Sea. The Dan Hotel chain saw its profits rise to 82 million shekels, this compared to 35 million shekels last year and as a result there was a distribution of a dividend totaling 40 million shekels.

Ritz Carlton to open its first hotel in Israel
 
Simon Cooper, President & chief operating officer of the Ritz Carlton Hotel Company; the Tidhar Group, headed by Gil Geva and Arye Bachar; Adi’s Investment Group, owned by Adi and Irit Strauss; signed an agreement to build the first Ritz Carlton Hotel in Israel at the Herzliya Marina.

El Al planning new code share agreements with US airlines
 
Haim Romano, outgoing CEO of El AL and his replacement Eliezer Shkedi on a visit to New York, remarked during a press conference that El Al was planning to sign code share agreements with other US airlines, in addition to that with American Airlines.

Travelport Israel clarify that they have no agreement with Saber
 
Yacov Kopelovitz, Travelport’s country manager for Israel, issued a clarification at a seminar of travel agents: “There is a misunderstanding; our multi-GDS system and its content will be accessible, but it is dependent on the signing of commercial agreements
