Israel and Georgia sign new aviation agreement
 
The Ministry of Transport announced the signing of a new aviation agreement with Georgia which decided to increase the frequency of approved flights in both directions from three to four. The renewal of talks occurred following the aviation crisis between Israel and Georgia that took place last week.

Minister of Transport appoints new CEO of Ben Gurion Airport
 
Minister of Transport Katz has appointed Shmuel Kandel(60), VP of Engineering and planning from the Israel Airports Authority as director of Ben Gurion Airport. The board of directors of the Airports Authority approved the appointment after receiving the recommendation of the selection committee.

October 2009: International passenger traffic up 1.5% at Ben Gurion Airport
 
Preliminary reports released by the Israel Airports Authority revealed that international passenger traffic in October was 1.5 percent higher than in October 2008. Since the start of the year international passenger traffic fell by 6 percent.

EasyJet arrives in Israel
 
EasyJet arrived in Israel for the first time on Monday with the launch of its service from London to Tel Aviv. The company will operate six flights a week on its new Airbus A320 aircraft, purchased especially for the service to Tel Aviv.

Austrian Airlines begins new direction from 1st January 2010
 
Eli Messer, CEO of Austrian Airlines in Israel, is in the coming days expected to announce his retirement as from 1st January 2010, after a period of 46 years with the company. From that date it is expected that Austrian Airlines will begin the process of assimilating its activities as part of the Lufthansa group.

WTM to open in London next week
 
World Travel Market (WTM), the second largest travel fair in the world, which celebrates its 30th year, opens in London on 9th November and continues for four days. Last year there were 50,000 visitors to the exhibition, including 26,000 travel professionals and 5,600 exhibitors from 190 countries.

Rimonim Hotels open their first hotel in Jerusalem
 
The Rimonim hotel chain has reported that they have signed a management agreement with the Shalom Hotel in Jerusalem for 10 years. From now the hotel will be known as the Rimonim Shalom. The general manager of Rimonim, Reuven Alex: “This is a significant step for the hotel in expanding to all parts of the country.
