British Airways to charge commission on advanced seat reservations
 
From 7th October, British Airways will begin charging its customers a fee for making advanced seat reservations, the amount will range from $16 to $80. Yael Katan: “The option to reserve a seat free of charge 24 hours prior to departure still exists.”

435,000 passengers to pass through Ben Gurion Airport during Succoth
 
About 435,000 passengers are expected to pass through Ben Gurion Airport during the Succoth holiday. This is according to the estimates from the Israel Airports Authority. The authority expects that the peak congestion, with upwards of 50,000 passengers will be on the 1st, 4th 8th and 10th October.

Sabre Holdings to purchase El Al’s share in Sabre Israel
 
El Al is to sell its stake in Sabre Holdings. The move is part of the compromise agreement intended to cancel the law suit filed by Sabre Holdings against El Al on the grounds of breach of agreement between the partners.

Ministry of Tourism: 8,000 Christians expected to celebrate Succoth in Jerusalem
 
About 8,000 Christians from 100 countries from around the world, headed by the World Evangelical Organisation will arrive in Israel in the coming days in order to take part in the Succoth (Feast of Tabernacles) festivities, under the auspices of the International Christian Embassy, supported by the Ministry of Tourism.

Minister Silvan Shalom: “The field of tourism in Israel is not treated properly as it is in other countries”
 
The Vice Prime Minister and Minister for Regional Development was the honoured guest at the monthly conference of the Skal International Association of Travel and Tourism Professionals, held at the Maccabiah Hotel in Ramat Gan. Shalom: “The imminent widespread cuts by government offices will also damage tourism.”

1.25% fall in international passenger traffic at Ben Gurion in September
 
Data from the Israel Airports Authority shows that during September there was a 1.25 percent decrease in passenger traffic compared to September 2008. Overall a total of 1.025 million passengers passed through Ben Gurion Airport during the month, this compared to 1.038 million in the corresponding period last year.

EasyJet to offer kosher meals on Tel Aviv route
 
The British low cost carrier which is to start operating six weekly flights on the London Luton to Tel Aviv route from the beginning of November has announced that it will offer meals, including a kosher menu. The price of the flight is expected to increase from £70 to £120 in each direction.
