Continental considers additional flight
 
Chairman and CEO of Continental Airlines, Larry Kellner is expected to visit Israel next month, to mark the company’s 10th anniversary in Israel. The airline will hold a formal party at the home of the United States ambassador in Herzliya.

Lufthansa CEO in Israel responds to El Al’s claims
 
Ofer Kisch, manager director of Lufthansa in Israel asked to respond to the recent speech delivered by Amit Livni, Head of Marketing for El Al, who accused foreign airlines of bringing additional flights to Israel on the pretense of bringing tourists to Israel, but were instead transporting more Israeli passengers.

Operating hours to be extended at Ben Gurion Airport?
 
Yisrael Katz, the Minister of Transport is weighing up the possibility of extending the last flight departure time from Ben Gurion Airport from the current 01:40 until 02:30. Educational web site has discovered that in recent days the Minister of Transport has met with senior personnel from the Civil Aviation Authority and with elements within the aviation industry.

Sun d’Or becomes the second largest airline in Israel
 
Sun d’Or, the subsidiary airline of El Al, has leased an additional aircraft, its fourth Boeing 757, from El Al. The new aircraft, which has seating capacity of 215, will be painted with the combined logos of Sun d’Or and El Al.

Dead Sea hotels in danger of having to close
 
The Minister of Tourism held a meeting with the Tamar regional council, accompanied by director general of the Dead Sea Hotels Association, Udi Zicherman and project manager of the Dead Sea Works, Noam Goldstein. Minister Misezhnikov said that the intention was to help make the region a leading tourism destination.

30,000 Israelis expected to visit Cyprus
 
Louisa Varaclas, director of the Cyprus Tourism Organization in Israel, estimates that about 30,000 Israelis will spend their summer holidays in Cyprus. This would represent an increase of 10 percent on last year.

Costa Cruises return to Israel
 
General Manager of Med Cruises in Israel, Anat Samovski advised that the Italian cruise Ship Company, Costa Cruises will be returning to Israeli ports this coming summer. The management of Costa Cruises decided to combine Israel in their sailing routes after a 10 year absence as a result of security concerns.

President of US Airways to visit Israel
 
The CEO of US Airways will arrive in Israel on the 9th July and will be present at the party being held at the home of the US Ambassador to Israel. Also present will be senior members of the airline as well as the Mayor of Philadelphia.

May 2009: International traffic slumps 15 percent
 
Data released by the Israel Airports Authority showed that international passenger traffic for May stood at 814,023, a fall of 15 percent compared to the same period last year. A reduction of one third in traffic to Turkey accounted for a significant part of this fall. Since the start of the year there has been a fall of 13 percent in the volume of passenger traffic.
