Air Berlin to fly to Israel
 
Germany’s second largest airline, Air Berlin has announced that it will be starting a scheduled service to Israel from July. The flight is to depart Berlin every Tuesday and Thursday with the return flight from Ben Gurion Airport every Wednesday and Friday.

Isrotel to operate direct flights from London to Eilat
 
The Isrotel hotel chain is offering wholesale travel agents direct flights from London to Eilat starting on the 14th December. The Sun d’Or flight, on aircraft type Boeing 757-200 with 207 seats will depart from London Luton Airport.

Lowest prices for Shavuot holidays
 
With the Shavuot festival approaching tour operators in the north are reporting especially high occupancy in hotels and holiday villages in the Galilee and Golan regions. According to the chairman of the Upper Galilee tourism industry forum, the reason for the high demand is because prices have been kept low during the holiday period as a result of the economic recession.

Ethiopian to fly daily to Israel if Ben Gurion opens to nighttime departures
 
Ethiopian Airlines is planning to operate daily flights on the Addis Ababa to Tel Aviv route, however this is conditional on Ben Gurion Airport opening up to night time departures. This was the statement from Chief Operating Officer of Ethiopian Airlines, Tewolde Gebremariam who arrived in Israel for the annual conference between Ethiopian Airways representatives and a group of leading travel agents.

Will Israelis return to Turkey?
 
Senior tourism officials from Israel and Turkey met in a special session with the main aim to increase the flow of tourists from Israel to Turkey for the coming summer season. This follows a 50 percent fall in tourist traffic during recent months.

El Al reports loss of $39.8 million in Q1 of 2009
 
El Al reported a loss of $39.8 million in the first quarter of 2009, compared with a loss of $50 million in the same period last year. Much of the blame attributed to the military operation in Gaza and the worldwide economic crisis.

Travel Agents suffer as a result of the recession
 
According to data released by Dun and Bradstreet, most travel agents in Israel have cut employees’ wages as a result of the economic recession. On average the wage cuts have been around 10 percent, while for the management closer to 15 percent.

Aeroflot flies to Eilat
 
Russia’s second largest airline, Aeroflot has begun operating a regular weekly flight between Moscow and Eilat. With the launch of the new service, Aeroflot has increased its route network to 95 destinations in 48 countries
